I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but my parents totally spoil me! For our anniversary this year (it’s been 7 years, incidentally), my parents gave us a new back door! Mike and I have always said that it would have been so easy for someone to just break through the crappy single pane glass and climb into our house and rob us blind if it weren’t for the deadbolt that required a key from the inside. Good thing we didn’t keep the key in it!! And good thing for us we never had any emergencies where we had to exit via that door because half the time I couldn’t find the damn key!

So today we bid farewell to that nasty old door. Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say. Thanks, Mom and Dad! The new door is no-frills (hey, it’s a back door), but a million times better than the old one, with an Energy Star rating to boot! Yay. Someday we’ll get around to making the laundry room look a little less raw, but it’s not top on the priority list. We’ve got our whole House 2.0 scheme to worry about before then. Updates coming to that soon, I promise.
In unrelated news, I noticed today that we have baby squirrels in our big willow tree. They were frolicking on the back patio this morning. Awww. I snapped this picture before Gabriel managed to scare them away with his tough guy face. :)
