The three of us and my sister-in-law went to the fair yesterday. The weather report threatened rain, but it turned out to be insanely hot instead. Poor Gabriel was dripping; he’s a sweaty boy. Thank God for the cool-down tent.

Before yesterday, I had never been to the fair. I don’t want to complain, but I think it was a little over-hyped by Mike’s fond childhood memories. However, I can respect that; I’m sure I’ve over-hyped plenty of things from my childhood. My opinion of the fair as an adult going for the first time: it was ok, but not awesome. I guess it might have been more fun if Gabriel was older and able to go on rides, but it probably would have cost us a lot more. LOL! As I said to Mike, “the fair seems like an elaborate scheme to get you to spend money.” By far my favorite part about the fair was the Maple cotton candy at the Maple Syrup stand. It was INCREDIBLE. I was only a little disappointed that we missed the Cake Boss on tour (it was last weekend), but the place was probably even more mobbed than it was yesterday.

Speaking of mobbed, I experienced a little agoraphobia for the first time ever. Not sure if it was the blistering heat or the extreme proximity of so many people but I started feeling light-headed and a bit frantic. Luckily, we found a quieter, less busy place to stand, and the panic subsided.

Also, I bought Gabriel this adorable winter hat. Lord only knows what possessed me to buy a wool hat in 90 degree weather, but I thought it was cute. :)

So anyway, enjoy my gallery of pics from the event.
