It was a pretty uneventful weekend at the Loftus residence. Mike had Grant up from Syracuse, and I worked on the house all weekend. Fun, fun. I painted the “Blue Room” on Friday and Saturday, and you’ll be pleased to know that we won’t have rename the room. It will remain the blue room from here on out, only it’s a much more relaxing, understated blue. After living there for a year you would think I’d be used to the previous owners methods of slap-dash home improvement, but no. It will never cease to baffle me why they used 4 inch nails for everything! Here are my thoughts: There was a $1.00 special on railroad tie nails at Walmart OR, if it’s broken, throw a thousand nails in it. That ought to fix it OR, they were too ignorant to know any better. Whatever the case, I continue to pull out these nails from a thousand different places. Ah well, that’s homeownership I guess.

Here is a photo of a nail I pulled out of the wall from an old drapery rod. The surrounding hole in the drywall was enormous, hence the giant nail solution.

We did have a near disaster with our cute little Bella on Saturday. She’s been crying and wailing at the door the past few weeks and I assume it means she wants to be outside. So I figure, let’s see how she does outside on a leash. George doesn’t seem to mind it too much. We got her outside, and after nervously, and tentatively glancing around, she tried to make a run for it. Then she realized she was on a tether, and SHE DID NOT LIKE IT ONE BIT! She went Berserk! You know when you watch those TV shows about animals out of control? That was Bella. I was nervous she’d strangle herself, but I couldn’t get close enough to her to grab her. Finally, she managed to weasel her way out of the leash and took off like a bullet around the side of the house. Mike and I ran off after her, but I took a nose dive as I was not wearing proper shoes for running. When we finally made it to the front of the house, we noticed that she was hiding under one of the cars in our driveway. We were able to coax her out and place her back in the safety of our house. Poor thing was shaken up pretty badly. Me too.

Other than that… nothing happened :)
