At 2 in the Afternoon

It’s been a week since George left our house for the last time. I’ve wanted to post something about it all week, but just haven’t been able to bring myself to do it… The house just feels so empty to me without him around — even if all he did recently was sit on the heat register or the couch. Bella is a nice kitty, but she’s just not my George. I hate to say […]

Preserving our Sanity

September 15, 2010 at 1:42 pm

Before Gabe was born, we frequently had to cope with middle-of-the-night scratching at the door or incessant meowing from our two kitties begging to be fed. George is the scratcher and Bella the cryer. It seemed they would take turns at who got to be the annoying one. However, George is really the main offender; Bella is just along for the ride. She must figure that if there’s food in the deal for her, she’s […]

Diagnosis

March 8, 2010 at 9:11 pm

So we opted to give George a chance at surgery, albeit a much less invasive type. We didn’t feel comfortable subjecting him to such a radical procedure, and the vet didn’t really recommend it. So last Thursday he removed the tumor (as much of it as he could see) and sent it off for biopsy. In the mean time, George has had a 6 inch zipper on his back that he’s been scratching at incessantly. […]

Debbie Downer

So I should be feeling pretty good right now: I’m starting to get excited about having this baby, we find out the sex next week, and all the first trimester maladies have pretty much disappeared. Except I’m horribly depressed. Life had to throw an enormous wrench in everything. On Monday, I discovered a walnut sized mass on George’s back between his shoulder blades. Holy shit, how could I have missed something so large? Have I […]

Kitty Love

November 14, 2009 at 9:24 pm

So I’m feeling sort of grumpy lately. And instead of complaining about all the things I COULD complain about (which turns out is quite a bit), I will take this opportunity to post some more pictures of my cats that I recently took with my new camera, because everyone is desperately interested in my pets. HAHAAHAH! Ok, I just cracked a smile there. Actually, I know that this is sort of faux pas, but I […]

Bella Sings

May 8, 2009 at 3:28 pm

One morning while the contractor was working, he absentmindedly left the door from the kitchen to the garage open. I heard Bella crying, and realized she was in the garage, and since the garage door was open, she could have just taken off. I quickly shooed her back into the house and yelled at the contractor to remember to close the door—which he did from then on. Ever since that day, Bella has done nothing […]

Our Pets Are Pests

February 6, 2007 at 12:40 pm

Groggy, and still grasping for the last few minutes of blessed sleep, I try to reposition myself but find it difficult with two big cats sitting on my feet, hogging the foot of the bed. I kick my legs to shoo them off. The morning ritual of obnoxious kitty behavior has begun. I roll over to get a quick peek at the clock. It says 6:03, which is precisely 27 minutes before my alarm goes […]
